The crownflower plant inhabits lower elevations in Hawaii and typical colors are purple and white. It is a popular lei flower. The plant, being in the milkweed family, is a favorite food of monarch butterfly larvae (caterpillars). The photos for this painting were taken in Puako, a small village on the ocean in the South Kohala area of the Big Island of Hawaii. This card is also available as part of a set called The Puako Collection.
